It’s sweater weather! And with that comes the excuse to wear “sweater-textured” everything. Meaning you basically are aiming to make your wardrobe as comfy and as trendy as possible. Luckily the ever-useful sweater makes that possible. Thought that it was just for your upper body? Nope! You can now find sweater-scarves, sweater-socks, sweater-leggings, and yes, actual sweaters. Before we completely deface the meaning of the word, check out some of my favorites to wear this Fall!
Who doesn’t love a good sweater dress? This is suitable for work, or a dressy occasion, but you can also rock it for a more casual outing as well. As always, it’s all about the accessories. Pair it with boots and a leather jacket for a daytime look; or tights, heels, and some sparkly jewelry for a more sophisticated look. I love this pick from Felicity & Coco (which can be found at Nordstrom), for its sassy fit and flare style.
Sweater leggings might sound weird, but their comfort far outweighs the fact that it doesn’t quite roll off the tongue. You can wear them as pants with a solid tunic or oversized jacket, or you can style them as tights and wear underneath a dress or a skirt. These leggings from Free People come in a variety of prints, and each of the models give you some style inspiration on how to wear them as well!
And what’s better than a sweater scarf? Having that cozy feeling while still being seen as a “fashionista” is something that should definitely be taken advantage of. Skip the turtleneck this season, and try the more flexible option of a big ol’ chunky sweater scarf. Wear it with your favorite vest or leather jacket for a moto-chic vibe. This scarf can be found at DKNY.
Knit skirts are also super popular for colder months, since they will often times keep you warmer even if you’re wearing a skirt while it’s snowing–or at the very least, they’ll give you the illusion that you’re warmer. Shorter lengths with tights and heels are great for night time, especially when paired with a crop top. This knit skirt can be found at Nasty Gal.
And of course, we’ll include an actual sweater in this list. You can choose from oversized, cropped, solids, prints, fitted, or various other styles, but the oversized printed cardigan is my favorite. Works with jeans, works over a solid dress or skirt, heck you could even use it as a robe at night if you really wanted to. This find can be purchased at Urban Outfitters.
