Every year, there’s seems to be an emphasis on the “natural look” for hair and beauty. That’s something I love to see because it usually cuts back on time in front of the mirror, and less stuff caked on to your face every single day is definitely better for your skin. This year the beauty industry went to somewhat of an ironic extreme, promoting no makeup at all. It started during the runway when models were sent out with minimal styling, which really helped keep the focus on the garments. But believe me, I know the idea of absolutely no makeup can be sort of scary. Instead focus on evening your skin tone with an all natural mineral powder, and maybe a swipe of blush for a natural looking glow. Eye makeup here would only be utilized if you have blonde, or lighter eyelashes in which case a single swipe of mascara will do the trick. Then you’re done!

For nights out on the town, you may be leaning towards a more dramatic look. This season, utilize color! A smoky eye is a great go-to, but very expected. A great way to stand out is with vibrant lip color. Orange was a huge runway trend, but if that’s a little too…orange for you, try a bright coral with orange undertones.

NARS lipstick in the Heat Wave color is described as “semi matte orange red”. This is a good combo to keep an eye out for, while bright color is awesome to try out, keep it matte. Shine and bright color can be overpowering.

As far as hair goes, the runway showed similar low-maintenance styles like we saw with daytime makeup. Low ponytails, loose “mermaid” waves, and the bob haircut were all taking over the runway. Spruce up a low ponytail with a fancy hair-tie or a cute headband, and it will look effortlessly chic.

As far as nail trends, it seems like last year’s accent nail is out and having every nail be an accent is in! Bright and vibrant neons were seen just as much as their counterpart, the soft and feminine pastel. Depending on your outfit, or where you’re going, either will keep you known as a trend-setter. Many women prefer colorful pastels for work to still show off some flare in a more subdued way.

Of course nail art was still very popular as well. But if you’re anything like me, paying for a manicure every week isn’t exactly necessary, and when I try it myself, the left hand always looks better than my right. An easy fix is the miracle Sally Hansen Nail Stickers which last at least a week and are easy to apply.
