A lot of what goes into boudoir photography is focusing on the great lingerie you get to wear, or the fact that youʼre wearing nothing at all! While that idea is sexy enough in itself, there are some other elements that should grab your attention as well. The background, or the setting of the photo shoot is vital for setting the mood and having your photos come out as perfectly as possible. From basic to unbelievable, below are five photos of beds that were almost romantic and sexy enough to make a photo all on their own! Of course, adding your sexy self to the mix completes the equation for a spectacular boudoir shoot.

Looks basic right? As you can see a simple bed frame with classic bedding in all white are the perfect blank canvas for a brand new lingerie set just dying to be shown off. I love this photo because, believe it or not, most people donʼt have a king size bed with silk canopies and crystal chandeliers. Clean and simple lines can go a long way and ensure that you will be the center of attention.

But while we are on the topic, a grand four poster bed and a crystal chandelier really never hurt anyone. And itʼs undeniable that it adds a sense of fabulosity your beside lamp just canʼt match. While this style isnʼt for everyone, if youʼre a lover of all things extravagant, this bedroom might be the one for you.

Aside from sparkly touches, colors can go a long way in a photograph as well. The combination of these muted colors with rich textures like quilted silks would do great in black and white photographs which are a favorite for boudoir shoots. Also, when youʼre all done up in your favorite set of lingerie, or baring it all, you might want to step it up from your beloved flannel sheets–they may be warm and cozy, but nothing says sexy like silks.

Usually when you think of boudoir and lingerie, femininity is one of the first things associated with it. But just like not everyone would love an over the top glamourous bed set, not everyone would love an ultra feminine vibe either. Darker colors and more masculine shapes can be just as sexy–if not more so, than other styles. For instance, this set leaves me feeling intrigued and wanting to show off my rebellious side.

Finally, cozy bedrooms are another theme that work well with boudoir. Itʼs warm and safe feeling you have when youʼre all snowed in and all you can hear is the crackling of a fireplace. But instead of curling up in your thermals, boudoir shoots can crank up the heat all on their own! Not to mention the warm lighting found here is flattering for everyone.
