The Oscars are a time to celebrate the talented actors, actresses, producers, and others of the like within the entertainment industry, right? That may be the foundation of the award ceremony, but in all honestly, the majority of viewers and critics look forward to the hours before hand of celebs filing in on that infamous red carpet, and picking apart every single thing they decided to put on that night. Or, at least every single thing their stylist told them to put on that night. Now I’m no Joan Rivers from Fashion Police, and generally I like to focus more on the positive than the negative. So this week’s blog is featuring the best dressed from this year’s Oscars. Enjoy!

First up, Kerry Washington. Have to give this girl props for going through the exhausting act of getting ready, smiling for cameras and interviews, and maintaining energy through the entire show–all while being pregnant. And she showed up with her a-game, although many women who are pregnant love an excuse to wear whatever they want (as they should!), Washington knew the red carpet was still the red carpet, pregnant or not. This year she arrived in a purple gown by Jason Wu, which lucky for her seemed to be as comfortable as it was glamorous.

Next, it was impossible to ignore Lupita Nyong’o in her Cinderella-esque gown. Social media channels instantly exploded, with millions of tweets and trending Facebook statuses about her flawless look. Why all the fuss? Just take a look at the way her skin tone glows next to the pale hue of the Prada gown, and it flows and glimmers just right. Well done Lupita.

Cate Blanchett also hit a homerun in her Armani gown. Appearing on the red carpet in a neutral tone that almost matched her skin-tone and hair color perfectly, she managed to pull off a look that could have easily gone wrong. While many fair skinned women are afraid of appearing washed-out wearing tan/camel colors, Blanchett’s dress was glowing and had enough added texture to keep it vibrant.

And lastly, we’ll wrap it up by keeping it in the family. The flawless, ageless, and overall perfect duo of Kate Hudson, and mother, Goldie Hawn. Hudson clearly got the good genes from mom as she appeared looking equal parts sophisticated and sexy in Atelier Versace. And Goldie Hawn was by her side all night looking just as radiant in Versace.
