Hey ladies, if you’re about to get almost naked with me, I bet you’d feel a lot more comfortable if you knew some things about me first, right?
I love spending time getting to know the clients that come through my studio, but since I’m the one asking all the questions, it doesn’t give you a lot of time to get to know me on a super personal level. So it’s time to learn more about your Atlanta boudoir photographer!
First of all, hi!
My name is Laquel (like Raquel but with an “L”) and if you’re super new here you might not know who I am or what I do. (That’s okay, I’m going to tell you!)
I’m originally from the SF/Bay Area and relocated to Atlanta, GA about 3 years ago. I’m a photographer and specialize in boudoir photography here in the Atlanta area.
Realizing that you might be brand new here, I wanted to share some fun facts about me so you can see that I’m a legit, real person!
When we can connect on a more personal level it will help give you the confidence to relax on the day of our shoot – and it’ll make it easier for us to have that great connection that will reflect in your photos, too.
So without further adieu, here are 10 fun facts about your Atlanta boudoir photographer (me!).
How old am I?
I’m solidly set in my 40s and am loving every minute of it!
One thing I love about being in my 40’s is that I give a lot less fucks than I did in my 20’s!
I’ve realized that life is too short to stress about the insane things that we used to worry about.
Maybe that’s what they mean when they say wisdom comes with age. But I gotta say, why don’t knees work as well nowadays?? Just sayin’
Introverted-Extroverts, Unite!
Here’s the thing, you’ll likely never see me out at a crazy party… but let’s pretend for a second you did.
After you get over the initial shock of me being there, you will likely seek me out only to find me playing with the dogs and cats.
When I was younger I loved to go out, we could be at a club until 3 am and still make it to work the next day. I’m not sure where that energy went!
While I consider myself an introvert, my closest friends can attest that I do have an extroverted side that comes out when they’re around.
And even though I’m an introvert, I love meeting the women I photograph and we have a kick-ass, fun time during your boudoir session!
Talk nerdy to me.
Give me a good story about aliens, fairies, vampires, shapeshifters – and I’m in my happy place. I LOVE reading and watching sci-fi and fantasy genres.
And my tastes vary greatly…. Here are some of my favorites in each category:

Here’s the thing you absolutely have to know. I love to travel.
Give me a sunny day with a drink in my hand and I’m in heaven! ☀️
Favorite places I’ve been: Italy and so many other places in Europe. I love tropical beaches in Thailand!
Upcoming adventures: Arizona, California, and a cruise to Alaska.

My pets are my kids
I am married and living the child-free by choice life. But I am a pet mom and lucky for my cats, they get to live their best lives!
Have you heard that trending audio currently going around that says, “You spoil that cat. Yeah, I do – it’s a cat! It’s not a person, what’s the worst that could happen if you spoil a cat?” My cats couldn’t agree more! Cat toys, random cat beds, kick ass cat trees, and an outdoor catio. Yup, they’re a wee bit spoiled.
We had 3 senior kitties, Moon (20), Niko (16), and Ellison (13). Sadly we lost our Niko in December and Moon in March.
We’ve recently adopted a new best friend for Ellison though, her name is Amy and she’s a 3 year old cute af calico kitty!
Don’t Rock the Boat
It’s always good to try new hobbies. Or so they say. My newest hobby is learning to kayak!
The extra challenging part is that I am not a huge fan of open water. Eeeek.
So naturally, any day I can stay inside the boat is a great day!
Dolce Vita
Here’s a fun fact about me. I’m a navy brat and used to live in Italy!
While I can’t fluently speak Italian, I’ve been told that my pronunciation is like – really good. So I guess the classes I took helped!
Since leaving, I’ve been back a few times – to Rome, Sicily, and a few other spots. I can’t wait to go to Tuscany next.
Perhaps one of my most favorite memories in Italy was the class trip we took to Venice. We spent our time exploring the area and bought these really fun Italian masks and figurines which I still have as a keepsake to this day.

Tea over Coffee
I have a whole cabinet dedicated to teas from around the world. I only drink coffee when my husband makes me a good espresso, or when in Italy….because – you know….. it’s Italy.
I met my husband on Craigslist!
Speaking of my husband, we met on Craiglist! Before there was Tinder, there was Craigslist and this is how we found dates in California. We’ve been together 14 years and married for 6, so I guess it wasn’t a terrible plan!
Atlanta Foodie Recommendations
We recently moved to Atlanta from San Francisco, so we’re still finding our favorite places to eat. So far we really love to eat at Eight Sushi and Poor Calvin’s.
