Boudoir photoshoot with black client in tan mesh outfit by Laquel Wright Photography

Preparing for a boudoir photo shoot is an exciting journey of self-discovery and empowerment. To ensure you feel confident and radiant, self-care is essential. Here are some self-care tips for women in Atlanta to help you prepare for your boudoir session and make the most of this empowering experience.

Nourish Your Body: Healthy Eating and Hydration

A week or so before your shoot, focus on nourishing your body with healthy foods. Opt for a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Hydrate well by drinking plenty of water. Staying hydrated helps your skin look fresh and glowing, ensuring you feel your best on the day of your shoot.

Stay away from larger quantities of alcohol the night before your session in order to avoid dreary, red eyes as well.

Pamper Your Skin: Skincare Routine

Your skin is your canvas, so taking care of it is crucial. In the weeks leading up to your shoot, stick to a skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. Consider a gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and reveal a smoother complexion. If you enjoy facials, book one at a local Atlanta spa a few days before your shoot to give your skin an extra boost.

I always keep a selection of lotions and coconut oil in studio to help avoid any dry patches of skin. Plus it helps for the glow look right before we snap some pics!

Relax and Unwind: Stress Relief Techniques

Stress can take a toll on your body and mind, so finding ways to relax is important. Try incorporating stress relief techniques such as yoga, meditation, or even a relaxing bath. Atlanta offers plenty of serene spots, like the Atlanta Botanical Garden or Piedmont Park, where you can take a peaceful stroll and unwind.

Get Moving: Gentle Exercise

Light exercise can help you feel energized and confident. Activities like walking, yoga, or stretching can boost your mood and keep your body feeling good. Atlanta’s numerous parks and fitness centers provide ample opportunities for enjoyable workouts that fit your lifestyle.

Sleep Well: Restful Nights

Quality sleep is vital for looking and feeling your best. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night in the days leading up to your shoot. Establish a relaxing bedtime routine, such as reading a book or listening to calming music, to help ensure restful nights.

Choose Your Wardrobe: Lingerie and Outfits

Selecting the right wardrobe is a fun part of preparing for your boudoir shoot. We’ll go over all the details in your Wardobe Consultation (which is included in every session with me). During the Consult we’ll choose lingerie and other outfits that make you feel confident and beautiful. Consider colors and styles that flatter your body and reflect your personality. Don’t forget to try everything on beforehand to ensure a perfect fit. I highly recommend websites like Savage X Fenty and even Amazon for a variety of styles.

You will also have access to my client closet on the day of your session which includes various items from size XS to 6XL.

Practice Posing: Get Comfortable

Practicing poses in front of a mirror can help you feel more comfortable on the day of your shoot. Experiment with different angles and expressions to see what feels most natural and flattering. I’ll be guiding you through the whole process so don’t worry about not knowing how to pose but being a little flexible and stretching will help a ton leading up to your shoot.

Communicate with Your Photographer: Share Your Vision

A successful boudoir shoot is a collaboration between you and your photographer. Communicate your vision, preferences, and any concerns you may have. This ensures your photographer understands your expectations and can create an experience tailored to you.

Treat Yourself: Pre-Shoot Pampering

Consider treating yourself to a pampering session the day before your shoot. Whether it’s a manicure, pedicure, or a relaxing massage at a nearby spa, a little self-care can go a long way in making you feel fabulous.

Embrace the Experience: Have Fun!

Most importantly, embrace the experience and have fun! A boudoir shoot is about celebrating you and your unique beauty. Relax, enjoy the process, and let your confidence shine through.
