Depending on where you live, the past week or so may have dealt you blistery winds, sub-zero temperatures, and about a hundred excuses to stay inside all day.  If you live in the Boston area, you’re going to have a rough week full of snow and even potentially flooding. I normally like to talk about lingerie, but today we’re taking a break from that to talk about how to look cute and stay warm at the same time. Itʼs that time of year when all the fall and winter fashions you got so excited about just a few months earlier now actually have to be warm and put to the weather test. Yes, you may have a fur collar and adorable gloves, but are they actually keeping you warm? Unfortunately, fashion isnʼt always functional, but after a brutal week of chill and snow, hereʼs a friendly reminder that yes, fashion can be seasonably adorable, and even effective at keeping you warm! For those days when venturing outside the house is inescapable, these garments and products are perfect go-toʼs for the coldest parts of the country.

Hereʼs one fur collar that will keep you warm. A nice twist on the classic trench coat, any fashionista should include something like this in her wardrobe. Not only is it made from thick and durable fabric that will act as an insulator against harsh winds, but the beauty of the trench coat is that it often falls to your knees or below ensuring that even more of your body will be warm and cozy!

One of the hardest things to do when itʼs freezing out is to muster up the motivation to put together a nice looking outfit that also keeps me warm. Cashmere is the perfect fabric to combine these two ideas. Not only is cashmere synonymous with decadence and style, but this fabric is softer than your favorite blanket. Although cashmere normally runs a little on the higher price end, itʼs fibers donʼt stretch out like other fabrics and is worth the investment. Oh, and did I mention how chic this dress is?

Leggings are a favorite for most women. Whether you pull off wearing them as pants, or like to layer them under a longer tunic, theyʼve definitely proven themselves to be versatile over the years. And what better way to improve a multi-functional garment like leggings than to add some fleece! Now, they feel like, and will keep you as warm as your favorite sweats, but you still look like a fashionista. You can now find plain black fleece lined leggings in most stores, but if youʼre looking for an ever more fashionable look, go for a pair like these.

With so many different styles, fabrics, and designs, scarves are basically the necklaces of winter. While chic neck scarves are great with a button up, or dressing up a plain t- shirt, Iʼd opt for an infinity scarf like this to complete the snow-bunny look. The great thing about scarves, besides the added warmth, is that they usually manage to dress up your winter coat. So if you decided to pass on the fur trimmed trench above, add a plush scarf to any of your go-to winter coats, and they instantly get a facelift.

Hopefully spring is just around the corner, but until then–stay stylish and bundled up…at least until you can run back home and under the covers.
