Ever find yourself wearing something in your wardrobe that you just can’t imagine living without? For me, in the summer it’s my favorite plain dress that I can accessorize a million different ways and no one would be able to tell it’s the same dress 3 days in a row! Not only do our favorite items usually look awesome on us, but they save us time and money when we need a go-to outfit in a cinch. This week I’m introducing a couple new garments that may just become a new staple in your wardrobe.

The shirtdress is a wonderful combination of feminine and tailored.  The button-up style is reminiscent of menswear, but obviously the dress style says otherwise. You can wear it to the office with a blazer, and switch it out for a leather jacket at night for extending the 9-5 look. A good shirtdress to start with is one of a solid color, or at least a print that’s not too crazy. Pick a color that works well with your skin tone, but also remains versatile for pairing with other accessories. This white eyelet shirt dress is from Band of Outsiders.

You may not be able to get away with wearing your favorite cropped pants with a distinctive print multiple days in a row, but they’re definitely an item that can be multi seasonal.  Grab your strappy sandals and pick a lighter color from the print to match it with for the summer months. Then transition seamlessly into the cooler months by pairing with a darker color and layering with your favorite Fall jacket and a pair of flats. These trousers from Fashion Union would match pastel yellow, but also work with darker blacks, browns, and grays.

A plain black blazer may sound pretty basic, and people are always looking for ways to jazz them up. But sometimes a plain, basic, no-frills black blazer is exactly what you need. A simple fit that isn’t too tailored, in a solid color will work with dress shorts, suit pants, or add a layer of sophistication overtop a more revealing dress or skirt for going out.

What are some of your go-to pieces that you find yourself wearing all the time?
