I’m more than slightly excited this week, since I’m going on vacation soon and summer is here! The sun is shining, the days are longer, and it’s the perfect season to grab a cooler, some sunblock, and escape to the beach or pool for the weekend with friends. There’s always new swimwear reports for each season and this year we’re seeing retro inspired shapes, geometric shapes, and a lot of use of prints and textures.  Of course you can’t forget the fabulous coverups and accessories!

Trend: Cutouts

The cutout trend started a couple years ago, but hasn’t really faded at all. Adding geometric designs can create flattery illusions for those of us who may have some areas we’re a little more conscious of (but really, who doesn’t?) Just make sure you put on sunblock so you don’t get tan lines on your tummy!

Trend: High Waisted

Retro inspired styles are very common in the lingerie industry and they’ve been showing up more and more in swimwear. Not only are they a fun switch up from the typical string bikini, but the high waisted bottoms are flattering on all body types. Additionally, halter tops usually offer great support for women with larger busts. Instead of your itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini, this retro version is just as adorable.

Trend: Prints

One piece bathing suits are just as sexy as a two piece and when you work in mixing different intricate prints, or large graphic designs, you end up wearing more of a work of art than just another bathing suit.

Trend: Accessories

Just like putting together an outfit for daytime, sometimes the accessories are the most fun part to play around with for swimwear. From large sun hats, glam beach bags, and oversized shades, it seems that bigger and brighter is the way to go.
