And remember, boudoir does not have to mean “lingerie”. Boudoir can be anything that makes YOU feel sexy. I’ve had clients that do jeans and a tee-shirt, some thtat do the bed sheet look, some that love the sexy lingerie, and others that go full monty and love the nude look. This experiuence should be what YOU want and what makes you feel good about yourself.

The first step to a successful boudoir session is choosing the right photographer. Look for an Atlanta photographer who specializes in luxury boudoir and has a portfolio that resonates with your style. To my note above, make sure the photographer has imagery that YOU align with and like. Not every photographer is going to do your thing and that’s ok. Read reviews and testimonials to ensure they have a track record of making clients feel comfortable and empowered.
Also make sure that the photograher offer the products that you are looking for. I offer folio boxes, albums and custom wall art but other photograhers may offer differnt items. Make sure you are able to get the products that appeal to your stle before you sign up.
Selecting the Perfect Location
Luxury boudoir sessions take place in a variety of areas. For Laquel Wright Photography, we offer in studio sessions at our Lawrenceville studio. I pride myself on personalized, in-studio setups for your sessions.
Other photographers my alighn more to hotel suites, outdoor sessions, etc…there are a wide range of location optons. Pick what style and setups best suite you and what you are looking for.
Professional Styling: Hair and Makeup
One of the perks of a luxury boudoir session is professional hair and makeup. Atlanta has many talented makeup artists and hairstylists who can help you achieve the perfect look. Opt for a style that enhances your natural beauty and complements the overall theme of your shoot.
Some photographers, like myself have the makeup/hairstylists booked in advance for your session. I love that all my clients have to do is show up and we handle everything. There are others that may want you to show up with hair and makeup already styled for the shoot, which is totally ok too. Just verify before hand what is offered and how you should show up on the day of your sesion as it differes by photographer.
Wardrobe Choices: Elegance and Comfort
Choosing the right wardrobe is crucial for a luxury boudoir session. As part of my services, a wardobe and styling consultation is required as part of your session and it’s included free of charge.
We’ll create a vision board together and we’ll review what outfits you like, the styles that you graviate towards, color schemes and more. Some clients opt to bring their own outfits but it’s usually a combo of me sourceing outfits for them and them bringing their own. I have a growing client closet as well to meet the needs of my diverse clientele.
Invest in high-quality lingerie and outfits that make you feel confident and beautiful. Consider classic pieces like lace bras, silk robes, and elegant bodysuits. And remember it doesnt have to all be lingerie. Pants, jackets, cute tops, all qualify and the only rule is that it makes you feel goo! If you like extras, don’t forget to accessorize with items like jewelry and other statement pieces to complete your look.
Pre-Shoot Preparations: Self-Care Routine
Prepare for your shoot by indulging in some self-care. Follow a skincare routine, stay hydrated, and get plenty of rest. For my clients, I give you a whole prep guide on how to best prepare for your session so nothing is left to chance! If you really want to do it up, consider treating yourself to a spa day or a relaxing massage in Atlanta or surrounding areas to help you feel rejuvenated and ready for your session.
During the Shoot: Confidence and Comfort
On the day of your shoot, it’s important to relax and enjoy the experience. Your photographer will guide you through poses and help you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Remember, this is your moment to shine, so embrace your confidence and let your inner beauty radiate.
And I know that a lot of us are self consious with the whole post-covid weight gain and just LIFE but if you have a skilled photographer she/he will be able to pose you in the best ways for your body. Trsu the process!
Post-Shoot: Viewing Your Photos
After your session, you’ll have the opportunity to view your photos and select your favorites. Many luxury boudoir photographers offer in-person reveal sessions where you can see your images in a beautiful presentation.
At Laquel Wright Photograpy, I offer immediate image reveals, so right after your session you will get to pick your favorites, I love to do it this way as you are already excited and hyped up for your session. We’ll review the images that you love you expressions and looks and then I’ll go and retouch for any additional elements like backdrops, etc.
